KLAK – Icelandic Startups – Iceland’s leading startup hub runs several accelerators and competitions and is recognised as one of Europe’s top hubs.
- Gulleggið: the largest entrepreneurship competition in Iceland; the 2025 finals were held on 14 February 2025 at Gróska, with winners sharing 2 million ISK.
- Startup SuperNova: a six‑week pre‑accelerator co‑run with Nova and Huawei. The 2025 cohort (selected July 2025) includes ten teams tackling health tech, AI, tourism and safety management. Participants receive tailored skill development, mentorship and investor access, preparing them for rapid growth.
- Hringiða: an annual accelerator for green solutions. The 2025 cycle (Hringiða+) supports circular‑economy startups; applications closed on 13 February 2025.
- Snjallræði (Smart Solutions) and Startup Tourism also provide sector‑specific incubators.
WomenTechIceland (WTI) – A non‑profit advancing women and non‑binary people in tech. WTI runs mentoring events and hackathons and collaborates with university associations (/sys/tur and Ada). Upcoming highlights include a fundraiser on 23 October 2025 marking the 50th anniversary of the Kvennaverkfall and the Nordic Women in Tech Awards gala in Helsinki on 10 October 2025. WTI’s partners span Vinnustofa Kjarval, UTmessan, Ada (University of Iceland) and /sys/tur (Reykjavík University).
/sys/tur (Reykjavík University) – The women’s association in RU’s computer‑science department promotes computing to women and girls and collaborates with WTI on events (e.g., Girls in ICT Day).
Ada (University of Iceland) – The Association of Women and Non‑Binary Students in Tech at the University of Iceland. After a COVID‑19 hiatus, Ada was revived in 2022 and by 2024 organised over 20 events including workshops on financial literacy, CV‑building and “Girls Night” visits to tech companies. The association was nominated for the Nordic Women in Tech Awards.
Reykjavík Fintech Cluster – Operates a co‑working space at Köllunarklettsvegur 1 and organises networking conventions, panels and conferences connecting startups, investors and banks.
Icelandic Blockchain Foundation (Rafmyntaráð Íslands) – Founded on 29 March 2015 to promote crypto and blockchain innovation. The foundation runs working groups on technology, mining and legislation and hosts a Bitcoin meetup every second Monday.
Game Makers Iceland – A grassroots collective for game developers. By 2017 it hosted 18 game jams and workshops; it still runs meetups and an active Slack/Discord community.
Javascript Iceland (Reykjavík.js) – A user group organising Beer.js meetups and previously the international JSConf Iceland. Membership numbers are not publicly available.
Reykjavík Web Meetup – A casual gathering for web developers and product builders. Though recommended in local guides, event frequency varies; attendees should check local announcements.
Reykjavík Startup Grind & Founders Live Reykjavík – Both launched chapters in April 2023, but as of late 2025 they have no city leaders and no regular events. A Founders Live pitch night took place in May 2023, yet there is no evidence of ongoing meetups.
